NORTHVIEW CALENDAR

CHANGE TO MIDWEEK PLAN, NO POTLUCK — ALL CHURCH MIDWEEK WEDNESDAY @ 7:15 PM
There is an important change to the Midweek plan.  We will no longer be having a potluck meal on Wednesday.  Instead, we will meet at 7:15 PM for a Bible discussion led by our brother Duncan Comrie.  Duncan, along with his wife Lisa, lead the church in Durban, South Africa.  Our upcoming midweek schedule is as follows:

  • 9/26 — All Church Midweek
  • 10/3 — Small Group Gatherings
  • 10/10 — Men’s Midweek
  • 10/17 — Women’s Midweek

NORTHVIEW WOMEN’S FALL EVENT: FIXER UPPER — Saturday, October 20th
Join the women of Northview on Saturday, October 20th from 2-5PM for an event designed to inspire us to live the lives we were created for.  Our guest speaker will be Christina Maldonado of The Path Church. Light refreshments will be served.  Please register by clicking this link.

SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

TEEN PARENT PRAYER GROUP — Wednesdays Starting October 3
Starting October 3rd, a prayer group for parents of teens will be held on Wednesday nights except during the all church midweeks.  We will meet in the prayer room in Suite 170 from 7-8 PM.

NEW! SPIRITUAL DISCOVERY CLASSES — Starting October 13th

DEBATE: IS JESUS A PROPHET OR THE SON OF GOD? — Saturday, October 13 @7PM
In Islamic tradition, Jesus is a great prophet — but not divine.  In contrast, in Christian tradition, Jesus is the son of God.  What are we to make of these two competing claims? Join Dr. Douglas Jacoby and Dr. Shabir Ally will be at North River (320 Austin Ave NE, Marietta, GA 30060) on October 13th for a spirited (and respectful) debate.  See the attached flyer.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA AUDITIONS — Sunday, September 30
As a reminder, this coming Sunday, Sept. 30th, is the final day to audition and sign up for our Christmas show, which will be held Sunday, Dec 16th. Auditions/sign ups will be in the teen room immediately following service. If you have questions, please contact Sally David at sallyjdavid@yahoo.com or 770-490-2952.

FOOD, FELLOWSHIP AND MUSIC HOSTED BY THE MOORE’S — Saturday, October 6
Attention: Woodstock, Canton, Pickens, Forsyth folks and anyone else!  Join us for a ‘hootenanny’ on Saturday, October 6 from 3PM-7PM at Randy and Connie Moore’s home (74 Teaberry Ridge Road Talking Rock, GA 30175).  Please bring your favorite side dish and drink for your family. Meat, desserts and paper goods will be provided. Folding chairs are appreciated. If you play an instrument, please bring it!!

BUILDING YOUR LEGACY CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT — Friday, October 12
Building Your Legacy (BYL) is having it’s 2nd annual charitable golf tournament Friday, Oct 12 in Johns Creek. BYL is a grass roots charitable project to identify, address and eradicate the fatherless epidemic for at risk teens.  It allows fatherless boys an opportunity to form surrogate-father son relationships with positive, responsible, and supportive mentors.  Please help support this very worthwhile endeavor by playing in the tournament, sponsoring a hole or via tax-deductible donations.  For more information and/or to sign up for the event please go tohttp://buildingyourlegacy.org/#event. PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Please pray for Katey Scallion and her family after the sudden and tragic deaths of her nephew Nathan Bickford, and her “adopted brother” John Bulatewicz over the past 2 weeks.
  • Please pray for the health of our sister Georgia Brown.
  • Please continue to pray for Mark Law as he goes through chemotherapy.  Please pray that he responds to the chemo he is receiving in September.  This will determine his future treatment plan.
  • Please pray for Dan Clemenz who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Dan started chemotherapy on May 29.  Please pray for God to work in a great way through the treatments and pray for the Clemenz family during this time.
  • Please pray for Renee Cathey’s mother, Charlotte Seiger, who is battling two aggressive forms of Lymphoma: b-cell and Burkitt’s.  Charlotte will start her 10th round of chemo today.  Please pray for strength and healing.
  • Please pray that Mike Dickie will regain the use of his right hand in the next 6 months!
